Digital Theodolite Topcon DT-305L is a lightweight, compact angle measuring and alignment device that uniquely offers up to 30 working days of power, supreme water and dust resistance protection, and convenient high-precision laser guidance. All models are also compact and lightweight for easy portability; and its simple operation provides precise measurements in a functional, hassle-free package. The DT-305L has a simple interface and a large, easy-to-view backlit LCD. There is an optical plummet that makes it easy to set control points, and a tilt sensor that provides ± 3 minutes of angle correction.

Digital Theodolites are primarily used for surveying applications, and have been adapted for special purposes in fields such as metrology and rocket launch technology. A modern theodolite consists of a movable telescope mounted in two perpendicular axes—a horizontal or trunnion axis, and a vertical axis. When the telescope is pointed at a target object, the angle of each axis can be measured with great precision, usually to arcseconds.
